1 John 4:19-21
We love because he first loved us. If anyone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen cannot love God whom he has not seen. And this commandment we have from him: whoever loves God must also love his brother.
1. God supernaturally loves you
2. Love others from the overflow of your love for God
The true Christian life is a love relationship with God
Next Steps
- Today I put my faith in Christ Jesus to be my Savior and Lord
- I commit to show God’s supernatural love to others this week
- Pray that I can better understand and live in God’s overwhelming, supernatural love for me
Deep Dive
- Read 1 John 4:10. Why is it important to see God’s love for us as the basis for our love for God?
- If someone told you they loved God but not the church, how would you respond? Is this even possible? (See Ephesians 5:25-27)
- What do you identify as threats to you demonstrating God’s supernatural love to others? What truths from Scripture can you use to fight against those threats/lies?
Springboard
- What is your favorite Bible verse and why?
- Read 2 Timothy 3:14-17 and discuss why it matters that God is the author of the Bible.
- How can we hold each other accountable to be more disciplined in our Bible study?
