A Search Worth Following

Each Christmas season, we decorate, gather, give, and sing. But buried beneath the wrapping paper and twinkle lights lies a deeper question: What are you seeking?

Matthew 2:1–11 tells the familiar story of the wise men journeying from the East to find the newborn King. They weren’t just astrologers—they were seekers. With nothing but a star and the Scriptures, they left comfort and crossed borders to find Jesus. And when they found Him, they didn’t merely admire—they worshiped.

Their story confronts us with a truth: real worship seeks, surrenders, and sacrifices. In contrast, King Herod pretended to want Jesus but really wanted to protect his throne. He knew about the Messiah but refused to bow to Him. In the same way, many today celebrate Christmas without ever worshiping Christ. We know the story, sing the songs, and hang the lights—but we don’t lay down our hearts.

What about you? What are you seeking this season? And what are you offering Jesus?

This year, let’s follow the example of the Magi. Let’s seek Christ earnestly. Let’s bow in surrender. Let’s offer gifts—our time, our resources, our obedience—with joy. Because Jesus is worth it. He’s the King who came to save, and the Savior who still welcomes all who come in faith.
