Agenda for Unity
Team USA! I love the Olympics! My family will watch sports that otherwise we would never be interested in and cheer on athletes who compete for Team USA. In some ways, we feel like part of the team, and for a few weeks, many in the country will unite under the banner of sports. Even athletes competing against one another, like NBA superstars, will link arms under the flag to represent Team USA. We celebrate this unity and spirit.

This is a picture of what the body of Christ should be. We are often known for division, scandal, corruption, and sin. Instead, we are called to a ministry of reconciliation and partnership. Much of Philippians has called us to link arms together for the sake of the Kingdom. Remember that it is His Kingdom and not ours. We don’t get to choose the agenda but must conform to His agenda. Perhaps we need to humble ourselves and ask the Spirit to expose pride in us that rejects His will.
I honestly believe that if we humbled ourselves, prayed, and turned from our wicked ways, we would be healed, united, and reconciled. If we retaliated less and reconciled more, the Gospel would begin to reach hard places. I seem to recall some verses in the Bible that speak to this … hmmm…
