I Like Being at Home!
I like being at home. The comfort level is what I like. The temperature in the house is just right. I get to sit in my comfy, oversized chair. My dog sits in my lap.
I just like being at home.
I also like to travel. I do enjoy a trip to the beach or the mountains. There is something refreshing about being away that can be relaxing. But no matter how nice the stay is, I’m always ready to go home.
Home sweet home!
In His Presence
In Psalms 84, the Sons of Korah draw our attention to this same idea. There is the realization that being in the presence of God is more desirable than being anywhere else.
We are encouraged by the writer to imagine what it would be like to live in the dwelling place of God. It is lovely. It is filled with blessings. It is a place of peace. It is a place of grace and security.
By the end of the Psalm, we find that one day in God’s presence is better than thousands of days somewhere else. And it is because the presence of God brings peace, Grace, safety, favor, and honor.
We are pilgrims passing through this world. It is not our home. We are strangers in a strange land.
Do you have that longing to be Home? Does the presence of our King compel you onward? Trust in Him and do good. Walk uprightly in His ways on this journey home.
I like being at home! Do you?
