COLUMBUS,GA – November 9, 2017 – Since his Army days, Jeff Struecker has a passion for building strong leaders. He has devoted a lot of his time as the Lead Pastor of Calvary Baptist Church to building skills and developing leadership principles in the lives of the staff and church.
In 2015, Struecker completed his Ph.D. from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary and has had numerous opportunities to teach graduate and doctoral students in church leadership. About teaching students, Struecker said, “I learn as much from the students as they learn from me.” It has become a way for Struecker to invest in the next generation of church leaders.
In 2017, Calvary began a Pastoral Residency program designed to prepare a man to be an effective pastor. Struecker sees this as a strategy to help build the Kingdom by developing pastors who are well prepared to lead Jesus’ church. Finding qualified candidates for the program is vital to its success.
Southeastern has approached Struecker with an opportunity to join the faculty while providing much of his instruction from Columbus. This would allow him more access to graduate and doctoral students, while maintaining his role at Calvary Baptist Church and in Columbus, Georgia. It enables him to invest more into the future leaders of Jesus’ church. And it would enable Calvary to develop pastors through the Residency Program.
When asked about the opportunity, Struecker said, “If I can make an impact on the quality of leaders that are coming out of our seminary from my role as Lead Pastor at Calvary Baptist Church, I’m going to do it.”
In January of 2018, Pastor Jeff Struecker will begin co-teaching a Ph.D seminar as a faculty member and assistant professor for Southwestern.
Struecker has received many awards and commendations during his time of service, including the following: David L. Grange Best Ranger Competition in 1996; U.S. Army ROTC, Noncommissioned Officer of the year in 1998; Ranger Tab; Combat Infantryman’s Badge; Pathfinder Badge; Master Parachutists Wings; Military Freefall Master Parachutist Wings. His military experience includes operations such as Black Hawk Down in Somalia, Operation Desert Storm and more than a dozen tours throughout Afghanistan and Iraq.
Struecker has written five books. He and his wife, Dawn, have five children: Aaron, Jacob, Joseph, Abigail and Lydia. He is the Lead Pastor at Calvary Baptist Church in Columbus, GA.
