For the past three years, God has been doing some amazing work in the hearts and lives of the youth at Calvary Baptist Church. We have seen growth in our numbers that has caused a tremendous challenge with our current worship space for them. We have been praying about a solution, and God has provided.
The Green House ministry made the decision to shift from its previous model to one that requires much less space. As the Green House moves from two buildings to one, this presents an incredible opportunity for the continued expansion of the church’s student ministry.
The Space Problem
Currently, our students are worshiping in a space that has a maximum capacity of 90 students. Each Sunday and Wednesday, nearly 70 youth from our church gather to worship together and be challenged to Reach the Chattahoochee Valley for Jesus. They are being Built in their faith through the teaching of the Scriptures. They are being Sent on mission in our state, our country, and around the world.
But the current space has capped the ability of our youth ministry to grow. Each week students are challenged to invite their friends from school to come and hear about Jesus, but the room and location are obstacles.
There simply is no more room in our current space for growth.
The Simple Solution
With the Green House consolidating into one house, the building becomes a prime location to relocate the church’s ministry to students. The church voted in 2017 to purchase the Green House I building.
The church will convert this building into a first-class church space for our youth. It will be exclusively used to minister to the students of Calvary Baptist Church and The Valley. The building will have a large worship space capable of seating over 300 students. There are 11 breakout rooms for LifeGroup meetings, Bible Studies, after-school programs, and many other activities.
The cost to renovate and equip the building for ministry will be $437,050. Converting an assisted living facility into a space suitable for youth ministry is a challenge. Plans have been drawn up, and contractors have provided their budgets for renovation. We have budgeted the expenses to equip the space with audio, video, furniture, and accessories that will create a first-class environment for our students.
We are asking everyone to get involved in two key ways. Will you Pray and Give?
Prayer is critical for success. Your prayer for this ministry is what provides energy for effectiveness. We ask that you pray for Pastor Frank Bowden, the leaders, and the students as they work to complete the mission in our community.
Pray that this space becomes a place for students to learn of the saving power of Jesus, that they become passionate about the Gospel, and they go on mission in our city, country, and around the world.
Pray that this space becomes a hub for student discipleship for Calvary Baptist Church and the Chattahoochee Valley.
Pray about how you are to invest financially in this ministry to our students.
Give sacrificially above your tithe to this project. The goal is $437,050. This will cover all of the renovation and equipment costs for the building. The exterior and interior will be completely redesigned to maximize ministry opportunities. Equipment will be installed that will allow leaders and students to engage in active discipleship.
Ways to Give
There are several ways to make a financial gift. You can give cash or check by using one of the envelopes located on the Welcome Center lobby tables or outside the church office, and write “Building and Grounds” on the envelope. If you give by check, include “Building and Grounds” on the memo line.
You can also use our mobile app and select the “Online Giving” button. This will direct you to our online giving portal. Input your gift amount and select “Building and Ground” from the drop-down selection. You can also indicate if you want to make this a one-time gift or a recurring gift.
