Calvary Memorial Garden to Remember the Saints

When you study the book of Hebrews 11, the Hall of Faith, you learn that the faith of those who went before you is important. The saints who preceded you become examples of God’s goodness and how to live a life that brings him honor and glory. It becomes important in the community of Christian faith to remember what God did in the lives of faithful men and women of the past. This remembrance is demonstrated for us all through the story of Scripture.

Remember the Saints

Calvary Baptist Church has over 100 years of faithful men and women who have given their lives to advance the name of Jesus in our community and around the globe. If it were not for people like Dr. Emmett Williams, Mr. and Mrs. R. J. Gilbert, Dr. Byram Glaze, Tripp Roy, and countless others, Calvary Baptist Church would not be spreading the Gospel in the Chattahoochee Valley today. It is this cloud of witnesses that cheer us on as we work to finish the mission that Jesus has entrusted to us.

Memorial Garden

This week we have started construction of a Memorial Garden on the lawn in front of the Worship Center. This memorial will serve as a place to remember the faithful saints who have gone before and be encouraged to continue living out the Great Commission.

There is a large granite monument that held a plaque honoring Tripp Roy for his service to Calvary Baptist Church, the  Gospel, and to this country. The plaque has been removed and will be permanently affixed to the steeple.

The large granite monument that is standing at the steeple will be moved as the centerpiece of the garden. On top of the monument is a plaque that reads as follows:

This stone stands a memorial to the members of Calvary Baptist Church who have given their lives to advance the name of Jesus around this community and to the ends of the earth. 1 Peter 2:5

The project is expected to be completed by July 30.
