Calvary Writers Guild
God has gifted the church with every skill, talent and trait it needs to fulfill it’s mission at any point in human history. The arts are an integral part of the body. It is through the arts where we express certain communicable attributes of God, such as creating and designing.
The Artists Built It
When God set out to have the tabernacle constructed, He chose the artisans of the people. They were masters of their craft and were filled with the Spirit as they used their gift to construct the house of God. He is using the artisans of today to continue to build the body of Christ.
One of the art forms that speaks to the character of God is in words via writing. He chose to use this form of communication to deliver his message to mankind. The written word of God in the form of the Scriptures is filled with all genre of writing. You will find prose, poetry, narrative, history, and apocalyptic styles of writing all through the Bible.
We Believe!
At Calvary, we believe the arts are important. We believe they are a valuable way we communicate the nature of God to our world. Â We believe that the arts provide ways to the hearts of people in ways no other medium can.
In an effort to help the members of Calvary better communicate the message of Jesus to our world, we are launching Calvary Writers Guild. This is intended to be a place to encourage people to write and make Jesus’ name known. We want to develop a group of men and women from Calvary Baptist Church who are writing and editing content for blogs, magazines, books, novels and other print materials on a monthly recurring basis.
The purpose of the Calvary Writers Guild is to accomplish the following:
- Create a resource group to encourage God-gifted writers to develop their gift for ministry and the sharing of the Gospel. (Colossians 3:17, Exodus 31:3)
- Provide a place where writers can meet, encourage, learn and challenge one another. (I Thessalonians 5:11)
- Develop a group of talented and gifted writers to contribute to the work of the ministry of Calvary Baptist Church. (Ephesians 4:12 – 16)
If you believe that God has gifted you with the talent and passion to write and you want a place to grow, be challenged, and be encouraged to write, then the Calvary Writers Guild is the place for you.
