Calvary’s Response to the Government Shutdown
Since December 22, 2018, the federal government has been under a partial shutdown. Families all across the Chattahoochee Valley are feeling the impact. The shutdown has caused them to miss a much-needed paycheck, and now families are going into crisis.
Many families are living paycheck to paycheck, and when they miss one because of a government shutdown, paying the bills becomes a stressful situation.
The Hope of the Gospel
As a church, we have been studying the book of Acts, and in Acts 2, we see how the church responded when there were people in the local community suffering. They sold possessions and brought money to the church to be distributed to those who had a need. This is an identifying characteristic of a body of believers living for Jesus.
They sold their possessions and property and distributed the proceeds to all, as any had need. – Acts 2:45 (CSB)
The hope of the Gospel compels us to respond to this need. We believe that through healing hurts and meeting needs, you can REACH people for King Jesus.
An Offering
On Sunday, January 20th, we took up a benevolence offering to meet the needs of families in our community.
