Sermon Notes
Luke 19:41-42
And when he was come near, he beheld the city, and wept over it,
Saying, If thou hadst known, even thou, at least in this thy day, the things which belong unto thy peace! but now they are hid from thine eyes.
- Jesus wept because of their superficial religion.
- Jesus wept because of their passing opportunity.
- Jesus wept knowing of their judgment day.
- Jesus wept because of His perfect knowledge.
- Jesus wept because of the blindness and deafness of the people.
- Tears of the weeping king gives us insight into His character.
- Tears of the weeping king reveal His divine helplessness.
Let us crown Him King in our hearts today.
Next Steps
- Today I confess my sin and turn to Jesus as my King for the first time.
- I choose to weep for the lost in my city and will share Jesus with others.
Deep Dive
- Read Mt. 21:1-11. The crowd that praised Him is the same crowd that would deny Him in just a few days. Why do you think they changed their minds in such a short time?
- Can you think of a time when you expected God to work in your life in a certain way, and He worked differently?
- What are you currently expecting from God?
Springboards
- Who is the most famous person in the last 100 years and why?
- Read Psalm 95:6-7. What has Jesus done that requires our worship and respect?
- What should it look like for us to “bow before” Him every day?
