Embracing the Deep End of Prayer

When I first learned to swim, I was intimated by the water and convinced if I went into the deep end, I would drown. It took coaxing and even being forced or thrown off the diving board in order to learn to experience the joy of swimming. What once was fearful now is a place of rest and relaxation.

We are committed to being a people of prayer and begin a summer-long journey of diving into prayer.  You may be like I described my childhood perception of the deep end.  You may be intimidated by talking to God.  You may be hindered from approaching God because you are convinced you don’t know how to pray. You may so fear God that you think you will die if you get too close.

While the fear of God is healthy and beneficial, we should learn to approach His throne humbly and seek His face. In doing so, we learn that we can ask anything.  He hears us when we cry. He promises to answer. However, we must also learn to submit to His authority, receive His answer, and ask in His name.

What seems overwhelming can be simple and I pray we can learn and practice together the beauty of prayer. Jump in with us as we commune with God and communicate with the Creator of the world! We will be pushed, challenged, and matured in faith. Let’s dive in together!
