A few years back I binge watched “Forged in Fire” by the “History” channel. This fascinating display of craftsmanship was a reality based competition that required artisans to forge a weapon through a variety of metals. While I’ve never crafted anything out of metal, I was mesmerized by the skill in melding metal together to create a strong tool. You may not be drawn to stream this show, and that is not the point. I simply want to draw attention to this process for the sake of making a spiritual point.

Like a blacksmith who carefully and patiently forges multiple metal fragments into a single blade, the Holy Spirit has drawn together a diverse group of people that represent cultures, races, and perspectives. The beauty of Jesus’ church is reflected when we are forged together to walk in unity.
The power of God the Father who has called us, the Son who has rescued us, and the Spirit who guides us should develop a unified church that displays His character of humility, love, patience, and meekness to a world that desperately needs hope.
Like never before the Church of God must display a unity in purpose, mission, and service. Even while we are navigating uncharted waters, the Church should be a beacon of hope that points our neighbors and loved ones to a merciful Father.
Will you today allow the Spirit of God to forge your heart to love like He loves, serve like He serves, and carry hope?
