From Darkness to Hope
What has been your darkest hour in life? Perhaps the loss of a job, the death of a spouse, the toil of addiction? We have all had these seasons. For me, it is likely the miscarriage we endured early in our marriage. There have been several dark seasons, but this one in particular clouded our perspective, caused us to doubt God’s plan for our lives, and genuinely impacted us for decades.

The power of that tragedy reinforced God’s presence. He proved Himself faithful. In those moments, the local church’s ministry loved us and committed to being present in our lives. Over the years, it has moved to reassurance of His plan, allowing us to uniquely minister to other families enduring a similar trauma with empathy.
Life will surprise us with reminders of our past, haunting fears, doubts, and insecurities. Through them all, we must remain faithful to God, who is loyal to us. Through them all, we must rely on God’s providence and process our real emotions in a healthy way so as not to remain stuck in our trauma but to cling to the hope of Habakkuk 3:17-19. God is our ever-present help in times of crisis and trouble. Hold tightly to His Word today and to His promises.
