Doing life together in Life Groups
Doing life together is our approach to life groups. We have dozens of life groups that meet at different times on our campus. Many meet on Sunday Morning at 9:45 for a time of Bible study, some of those groups meet on Wednesday night for adult studies, other groups meet throughout the week all over the Chattahoochee Valley.
We don’t limit our discipleship process to life group classrooms. We want people to get comfortable enough with each other that they are living life together. (Raising families together, hanging out with each other.) The purpose of life groups is for people to learn what following Jesus looks like from one another until they are able to help others follow Jesus also.
Learning from each other
We believe that it is equally important for our church to grow smaller at the same time that we grow larger. As a result, we want our life groups to continue to grow at the same rate that our large group, church services continue to grow.
We believe that in life groups a person is not just part of the crowd but involved with each other’s lives. In life groups you have the chance to ask deep questions about the Bible, faith and how following Jesus looks. Life groups care for each other in ways that the large group could never care for each other. Therefore, we often say at Calvary that if you only had one hour to give to our church each week, we would rather see you in a life group than in our large group, church setting.
Senior Adults
Young At Heart
Young at Heart is a ministry focused on people having a few years behind them. If you are 55 or older and looking to connect with people in your stage of life, come to one of our events and make some new friends.
This group exists to help people become disciples of Christ. We do that by creating Christian community, building relationships and engaging people in our city with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We like to have fun. We usually meet together for monthly luncheons, have programs of inspiration, pass along information, or just hang around each other while seeing interesting places and things in our area.
If you are eligible for a senior discount, come join us. We would love to have you.
Adult
Adults at Calvary Baptist Church get connected in several ways:
Join a Life Group:
Sunday morning Bible study groups do more than just meet during the hour. Each class plans get-togethers throughout the year, they keep in touch with members in need of prayer or assistance, and connections within the life group develop into long lasting friends.
Attend life groups:
While the children are in AWANA and teens are with their youth activities, adults choose between a variety of interesting studies. These informal groups provide opportunity to meet new people expand your familiarity with the church family.
Serve in a ministry:
We grow closest to the people with whom we work side-by-side. There are many areas of service needing new volunteers. Youth ministry, AWANA, preschool and nursery child care, Vacation Bible School, Ushers/Greeters, sound and lights team, and many other ministries will connect you to other adults.
For information on any of these and more, just mark your worship guide insert that you would like to speak to one of our pastors, call the church office at 706-322-1491 or visit the Welcome Center.
Young Adults
Young Adults is a gathering of college students and 20-somethings at Calvary Baptist Church. The focus is to provide discipleship, Christian community, and relationships for this age group so they can be integrated into the life of the church and participate in one of the many services of Calvary Baptist Church. Young Adults Life Group is formatted into topics related to college and 20-somethings, and a portion of the meeting is set aside for round table discussions. Young Adults provide life groups, events, and missions to provide opportunities for deeper relationships and Christian growth. So if you are a college student or 20-something, come join us. We would love to have you.

When do you meet?
Sunday Classes are from 9:45AM until 10:45AM Wednesday Worship is from 6:00PM-8:00PM. We serve waffles and pancakes for free on Sundays!
Where do you meet?
Our High School worship meets in the Café, which is located in the back building of the middle school area of campus. Our Middle School space is in the portable building in the middle school area of campus.
How old do I have to be to participate at The HUB?
The HUB is for students in 6-12th grade. We are a complete ministry for these ages. Most of our events and activities are focused to meet the needs of middle school and high school students separately.
AWANA Clubs
AWANA clubs meet from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. every Wednesday evening following the school year calendar. Our club focuses on Cubbies, Sparks and Truth and Training, from preschools (age 3) through 6th grade. Each club uses Bible-centered handbooks and special activities to help children gain a solid understanding of the basics of Christianity.
We know that life happens fast. Kids grow up quickly. You are trying to pack a lot into each day. At Calvary we offer you a safe, loving environment where you can work together with one of our trained, screened, and loving volunteers to help make a difference with your child. We are honored that you are considering us. We are here to partner with you to help your child discover and nurture a growing relationship with our King, Jesus Christ.
There are 3 core truths we emphasize in our Children’s Ministry:
- We can trust God…no matter what
- We need to make the wise choice
- We should treat others the way we want to be treated.
We believe that you are the primary spiritual leader of your child. We are here to help you. Our volunteers teach that the Bible is the source of wisdom and truth. It is our instruction manual for life.
Most kids form their entire idea of who God is and choose whether or not they will have a relationship with Him BEFORE leaving the 5th grade. Therefore, each opportunity we can get to disciple them is important.
We look forward to working with you. Come as you are. No need to dress up. Check in at the Welcome Center and a volunteer will walk with you to the Children’s Area where you will register and receive an id badge for your child, and one for you to use to retrieve them after Worship Services.
We encourage you to download an app that will give you great prompts, games, suggestions, and lessons that coincide with the lesson taught on Sunday. ParentCue is available for iPhone or Android users.
You are not alone in this. We are here to offer encouragement, advice, friendship, and love.
Preschool
At this magical age your child builds character, self-esteem and a sense of confidence that leads to independence and working well with others. We will embrace this growth period in your child’s life and encourage artistic expression, which gives your child a range of responses to the world. Through music, dance, dramatic play and art activities we will teach your child about God in a loving, safe and encouraging environment.
Our commitment to you is to treasure, teach, and love your child. Our goal is to provide a healthy, safe environment with teachers that encourage freedom of expression and happiness. We hope you choose to allow us to spend time with your child while you are in our church.
Nursery
As babies play and explore throughout their day, they develop an understanding of their world. Our goal is to create a safe environment, which is supportive of every child’s individual needs. Each class provides age appropriate developmental and educational material designed to stimulate the natural curiosity in children.
Our teachers treasure and love the babies in our care and have extensive training to make sure your baby is safe, enjoys a healthy environment and is taught that God loves them. We hope you choose to allow your baby to visit with us while you are at our church.
Music
Embracing the belief that God inhabits the praise of His people, we seek to worship Him with enthusiasm in all of our Worship Services. On Sunday mornings at 8:30 and 11:00 we blend traditional hymns with contemporary worship songs. Regardless of worship style you choose, our prayer is that you will become more than a spectator – that you will worship the Living God with us! We involve our music ministries in mission opportunities throughout the year believing that worship is an integral part of sharing Christ with others in our community and beyond.
Missions
We must send believers to preach so that they may hear and some may believe and call on the name of the Lord and be saved! The Great Commission is not an EITHER/OR option, but a BOTH/AND command. From cover to cover, the Bible teaches that all the church – not just select individuals, but all the church is created to reflect all the glory of God to all the world. We are all commanded and commissioned to make disciples of all nations. Each of us must Pray and Give and GO.
