Greater Than, Week One

Hebrews is here!!

It’s finally time to start our study of the book of Hebrews. I have been looking forward to this series since it was put on the schedule about a year ago. We are framing our study of Hebrews around the simple phrase: “Greater Than”. One of the major themes of the book is showing that Jesus is the ultimate “greater than” over everything. Greater than what? What does that really mean? How much greater? Well, you will just have to come to find out.

Communion Time.

This week we will be sharing in communion. When we come together and take of the Lord’s Supper, we uniquely remember the body and blood of Christ, broken for our sin, and shed for our redemption on the cross. Because of the seriousness of what it represents, we take it very seriously. Be in preparation to receive the bread and wine by praying that God would reveal ay sin that my hinder you from being united with Him, and repent of it, then ask, in faith, for a mindset that is pure, in order to receive communion. You will be charged to pray about this during the service, so be prepared.

Exciting news?

Each week we try to schedule music that serves to focus our minds on what we are learning from scriptures. Many songs can successfully accomplish the goal of biblical worship, but some songs are better suited for specific days than others. In that vein we have begun to talk about and write some original music that will specifically address the topics and texts from Hebrews. I hope to begin singing these songs together soon, and who knows, maybe we will put some on a c.d. one day. Until then, here are the songs we will be singing thins week.
