Hope: More Than a Word
Calvary Baptist Church is a devoted family who loves God and loves our neighbors. We strive to accomplish this through intentional relationships, pursuing Jesus, and carrying hope. Those core values should help us accomplish our vision as we grow in Christ together. I want to focus on the value of carrying hope today.

Hope is often misused. You “hope” to get a Christmas gift. Hope is not a wish. In the biblical sense, “hope” is a confidence and expectation that God will keep His promises. He will fulfill His purpose and plans. What hope we have in Him through any crisis! True hope allowed Job to worship in the most intense crisis. Consider Job 13:15 and how he trusted God.
Like Anna in Luke 2:36-38, we expect God to show up and must respond in faithful worship with a commitment to tell the world that He has come and He is King. This Christmas season, let “hope” be more than a word in your decor. Let it shape how you love and how you live! Hope has come in Christ!
