We gather again this week for week three of this series on families, and this week we talk about Mothers, and motherhood. While I am not a mother, nor will I ever be one, I do have a mother and will hopefully know more mothers as my life goes on.
I hope this week finds you safely in God’s hands, and I hope you will join us this week as we gather to worship the risen Savior, and hear what God’s word says about mothers.
To prepare this week, be continually praying that God would reveal His truth to you, and read 1 Samuel 2:1-11. It could be incredibly helpful to have already read the text that Jeff preaches from before hand.
This weeks music includes some old, and some new(ish)
Lay Me Down, Chris Tomlin
This song is a powerful proclamation, and challenge to lay down our lives, indeed all we are, at the feet of Jesus. The bridge of the song is a particularly potent phrase, “it will be my Joy to say, Your will, Your way.” Let it be a challenge to us to find joy in our submission to the Father.
The Solid Rock, Edward Mote, arranged by The Dispatch.
This great hymn is a great reminder that Christ is the rock on which our lives are safe and secure, and with Him we are protected from the Devil’s schemes. I hope you enjoy these re-worked hymns, they provide us the opportunity to connect with the historic church, as well as connecting us together with some great words.
Man of Sorrows, Hillsong
In my humble opinion, this is the best thing Hillsong has ever written. I hope you are spurred to worship by the deep truths presented in this song.
I would like to leave you with a blessing prayer, something that I hope and pray for all of us as we go throughout our weeks:
May the Lord bless you and keep you, may the Lord cause His face to shine upon you. See Him smile at just the thought of you, and may He rule in every part of you, and peace be with you as you go.
