Who am I? This is a question that we often ask, even if we don’t use the words. Truthfully every human strives to answer this question. Even when we think we solve the riddle, we continue to explore and search for deeper answers.

Businesses rake in trillions of dollars over hobbyists who seek answers to this question in boats, guns, gardens, and tools. Parents spend weekends of their lives pushing their kids to find their niche on travel ball teams, recitals, and competitions. Adults get lost in their careers. Tribes shape who they are by ethnic celebrations. Activists push for celebration of gender discovery. On and on we go on the merry go wheel that ends in a place of dissatisfaction and a sense of incompletion.
In Exodus 3 we read of Moses in the midst of an identity crisis. He had lived as a prince and now resolved to live as a shepherd. The once royal now is a wanted nomad. In his shifting roles, God shows up.
God reveals Himself and in so doing Moses discovers a purpose beyond his wildest dreams. Emptied of any earthly possessions, he finds in God all he needs. Like Moses, we must empty ourselves of pride and humble walk before God. Like Moses, God sees us and will use our story to ultimately point to His story of redemption and reconciliation.
We are not defined by what we do, who we know, where we have been, how much we possess, our affiliation, our politics, our preference, or our opinions. If we seek to build our life on any of those things we will shift on sand and end up divided, destitute, and empty.
In Christ, we can find power, purpose, peace, unity, redemption, hope, strength, and value. No matter our situation or stains, God will shine through our scars to reveal a light of life and peace.
Who are you? As His son or daughter, you are chosen, adopted, forgiven, redeemed, free, victorious, and loved!
