Reflecting the Light All Year Long
Another Christmas has come and gone. For most, the decorations have been boxed up and stored away until next year. Some, however, keep the tree up all year round and decorate it for each season. Others leave the lights on the house all year long. Is that because they are lazy? Maybe. It could also be a reference to how we should live.
The Christmas season allows us to focus on hope, joy, peace, love, and, ultimately, the light of Christ. He is light and life. He came to expose our spiritual darkness and reveal the path to God through Himself. As we walk by faith, we are called to be a light to the world. We reflect Him to a dark world every day, or at least we should.
Maybe we shouldn’t make fun of those who leave their lights up all year long, but instead, we should see it as an illustration of the life we should live. Turning the page to a new year, most of us will hit the reset button, and some will even make resolutions. One consideration today and every day should be how we reflect the light of Christ to those we meet.
In our homes and even in everyday interruptions, God will provide moments for us to give Him glory, point others to Him, and watch Him change the hearts of men just like He has made us new. Will you join us on this mission to carry hope to the world every day?
