According to Business Insider, Ryan’s Toy Reviews grossed $22 million in 2018. This is amazing! Back in March of 2015, Ryan’s parents began documenting his toy reviews, and today, he has over 22.3 million subscribers to his YouTube channel!
How in the world does someone reach this level of economic success simply by making home videos and reviewing toys? It’s simple really. Offer a compelling message, and watch it get shared. Going viral is a thing!
We understand the “viral” concept in our modern culture filled with social media and crowdsourcing. However, we don’t seem to understand the compelling message of the Gospel and the need for it to spread in a viral way. If we did, we would see more positive trends in Christianity. Baptisms continue to decline, and the percentage of unchurched or unreached people in our communities seems to be unchanged.
One can’t help but wonder what would happen if God’s people were compelled to share the message more freely. One can’t help but wonder what a difference it would make if God’s people lived with an urgency for the Gospel and brokenness for the lost.
Matthew 9:35-38 reminds us of Jesus’ statement regarding the need for messengers compared to the potential harvest. The Gospel is the most hope-filled message ever known to humanity. We as God’s people have been commissioned to offer the most life-changing gift ever provided.
Imagine the revival and impact on the world there would be if God’s people were committed to sharing the hope of Christ. The viral potential is limitless, and the eternal impact is worth it. Consider who you will intentionally share the Gospel with today. How can you be faithful to make the hope of the Gospel a viral message?
