Growth in our middle school and high student ministries, The Hub, over the past three years has grown rapidly. In 2015, the average Wednesday night attendance was hovering around 20 students. In three short years, that number has grown by over 300%. This past spring the average attendance was 63, with several nights approaching 70.
The students of The Hub have bought into the mission of Jesus’s church and want to see it completed in their lifetime.
Here are a few highlights of the God-sized work happening in The Hub since 2015:
- Over 300% growth in active students
- 20 different schools represented from three different school systems and homeschool families.
- 5 students have become followers of Jesus
- 15 students have followed in believer’s baptism
- 6 students have taken a Gap Year to serve Jesus on mission
- Over 20 students went on national or international missions in 2017
Students Helping Students Find and Follow Jesus
The mission of The Hub is: students helping students find and follow Jesus. Each week our 12 – 18-year-old students are challenged to reach their friends and fellow classmates with the Gospel. They are bringing friends. They are growing deeper in their faith. They are helping other students find Jesus and follow him daily.
What God has been doing in the hearts and lives of students has been awe-inspiring, and it has brought about a significant challenge. We are out of space! The room has reached maximum occupancy. We have no room for growth.
This is an immediate need in order for our students to continue to reach others, to be built up in their faith, and to be sent on mission.
God Provided A Way
God has been on the move and has made a way. In 2017, the Green House made the decision to shift from its previous model to one that requires much less space. As the Green House moves from two buildings to one, this presents an incredible opportunity for the continued expansion of our student ministry.
In December of 2017, we as a church voted to purchase one of the Green House buildings and use this for Calvary Student Ministry space. This will open up more opportunities to minister to students and families through The Hub, and we are excited about what God will do through this space.
But we need your help. Turning the building into useable student ministry space will take time and money. We have been diligently working on a plan to create a space that will give us the capacity to serve over 300 students.
The plan is to remodel the building, making a large room into worship space with a seating capacity of 330 and having 11 additional rooms, allowing for over 100 students to join LifeGroups, start Bible studies, attend after-school programs, and invite our community to be served by our ministry.
How To Get Involved
We need your help in two key areas. First, we need your prayer for our student ministry. We ask that you pray for Pastor Frank Bowden as he leads this ministry. Pray for the students, that they continue in the faith as they reach their friends and fellow students with the Gospel. And pray that the space we are planning to transform becomes a Hub for students who make a difference in our community.
Second, we need you to get involved. The cost to renovate and equip the space for ministry is $437,050.
Will you invest in expanding our student space to be able to reach over 300 students with the Gospel?
Will you give sacrificially to provide opportunities for students to help students find and follow Jesus?
You are the instrument that Jesus will use to make it possible for the students of the Chattahoochee Valley hear the good news that Jesus loves them.
