Trusting God in the Little Things
What do luggage wheels and Jesus have in common? Follow me on this, please! We were preparing to pack for vacation. Hilary called me, wondering where the wheels of a new suitcase could be found. You see, we bought this suitcase months ago, and the box had long since been disposed of but apparently we never put the wheels on the bottom of the rolling suitcase. Needless to say, we concluded that we would have to order new wheels.
Later that evening, while watching TV, we heard a loud noise in the garage. We went out to discover what the noise could be, only to find that three boxes stacked together on a high shelf randomly fell to the floor. Inside those boxes were the wheels to the luggage. What are the chances? Why did the boxes fall? Why did they fall on that specific day? Was it a coincidence?
For me, this is another simple reminder that God actually cares about the little things. At the end of the day, ordering new wheels would not be a big deal at all. But the timeliness of this simple provision reminds me that God actually cares. If I can learn to trust Him in the simple things and see Him at work in the simple things, I am much more likely to trust Him and see Him at work in the big things.
Every one of us faces situations and seasons where we wonder what God is doing and if He is even there. If we have developed the muscle and faith skills to praise Him and trust Him in the little things, when we navigate seasons of uncertainty, we are more likely to see His hand at work and trust his timing even when we do not know His plan. Praise the Lord in the big and small. Praise the Lord in the mundane and minutia. Praise the Lord in the miraculous and the everyday. Praise the Lord!
