Wednesday Night Activities Fall 2019
All our Wednesday night activities are back in full swing in August!
AWANA
AWANA is our Wednesday night discipleship opportunity for kids from K3-5th grade. AWANA begins with Open House – also called Parent Night – on August 14th at 6:30 p.m. Parents, bring your clubbers and plan to stick around with them to kick off the 2019-2020 AWANA year. The first official night of AWANA begins the following week on August 21st.
The Hub
The Hub is our ministry for students from 6th-12th grade. If you are a middle school student who wants to have fun and meet people who love Jesus, this is the place. If you are a high school student and are looking for a place to connect with God and others, here is the spot. If you are serious about growing in Christ and want someone to mentor you step by step, we are here to help. The Hub meets for fun and discipleship at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday nights. The Hub is also what we call the room in which we meet, and it’s located at the top of the hill on the northeast side of our campus in our Middle School building. Just follow the signs from the parking lot.
Adult Bible Studies
The heartbeat of Calvary is making disciples. One way we do that is by coming together to build our faith during classes on Wednesday nights. We have several classes that begin on August 21st. Take a look at the list below to figure out which one you want to be a part of and join us at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesdays. Some classes require registration, so be sure to check out our class registration page as well.
From Creed to Credo – Led by Michael King in room 306
The Christian Church for centuries has held up a number of creeds as the guiding principles that shape our faith. Why is that? What’s so important about these words? Join us for a four-week look at the history of the Apostles Creed and Nicene Creed and what we can learn from them to be more connected to our past, and more prepared for our future.
Having a Mary Heart in a Martha World – Women’s Bible study led by Jennifer Little and Catherine Reynolds in HS Media Center
The life of a woman today isn’t really all that different from that of Mary and Martha in the New Testament. This is a fresh approach to the familiar Bible story. We will see how Marys and Marthas alike can draw closer to the Lord, deepening our devotion, strengthening our service, and doing both with less stress and greater joy.
Financial Peace University – Led by Andrew Sneigoski in room 309
Never worry about money again with Financial Peace University (FPU), the nine-lesson course that gives you the proven plan to master budgeting, pay off debt, build wealth, and give generously. The course centers around lessons taught by Dave Ramsey, Chris Hogan and Rachel Cruze, followed by small group discussions. FPU includes your member workbook as well as one year of free access to Financial Peace Membership, where you’ll find tons of online resources to help you start winning with money.
Cost is $99 per individual/couple and requires registration.
Above All – Led by Chris Poirier in room 303
Jesus promised to build His Church and said that the gates of hell would not prevail against it. Along with this promise, Jesus gave clear instructions for how the Church would prevail. He promised to build it on the Rock of the Gospel. This nine-session Bible study will give you a fresh perspective on the supremacy of the Gospel over the trappings and temptations of modern society. We will focus to grow as a church toward a greater awareness and practice of Gospel culture, Gospel mission, Gospel renewal, and Gospel unity in order to reach the Chattahoochee Valley with the message of Christ.
Cost is $14 per person for the study guide and requires registration.
Old Testament Survey – Led by Alan Smith in room 304 (Begins September 18th)
This class in an Old Testament survey of the Pentateuch. We will explore the structure, scope, meaning, and events that are integral to understanding the Gospel. In this six-week class, we will identify key passages, problem passages, and the thread of the Gospel as we explore Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, and Deuteronomy.
