Baptism is a very important step in your Christian Journey! It is a demonstration to the world that Jesus Christ is your Savior, that he has first place in your life and that you will follow him in every area of your life.
The Baptism process
Baptism is a process at Calvary Baptist Church. The process begins when someone confesses faith in Jesus as Lord. We begins the baptism process by meeting with a pastor to explain to a new believer in Jesus what the Bible teaches about baptism.
The pastors then coaches that person to prepare a public statement about what happened in their heart after accepting Christ.
The process of baptism at Calvary concludes with a video recording of someone’s faith and a public baptism during one of our three worship services.
Who should be baptized
We believe that you can only be scripturally baptized once. It is an act of obedience that follows after faith in Jesus. As a result, baptism of a baby is neither scripturally valid nor does it constitute a real baptism. Baptism is a conscious act of someone who has already understood their sin and their need for Jesus as Savior.
Baptism is an important step toward membership in Jesus’ church. Because we believe that you can only be baptized once and because baptism is essential for membership in the local church, Calvary Baptist Church does not ask someone to go through the waters of baptism who have already been baptized in accordance with the Bible before they join our church.
Baptism declares what Jesus has done
Calvary treats baptism as a way to help tell the story of Jesus to your friends and family. We make a big deal of baptism and ask those being baptized to invite their friends and family to this important spiritual act.
