Embracing Jesus’ Mission Beyond Our Comfort Zone

Have you ever felt like God was calling you into a place that made you uncomfortable—into something dark, difficult, or even dangerous? In Mark 5, Jesus does something radical. He tells His disciples, “Let’s go over to the other side.” But this isn’t just a boat ride—it’s a mission into enemy territory. The Decapolis was known among Jews as spiritually unclean. Baal’s old stomping ground. Pagan temples, pig herds, and demons. Yet Jesus goes. Intentionally. Directly.

He calms a raging storm to get there. He confronts a man so overtaken by evil that even chains couldn’t hold him. And with just a word, Jesus restores him—mind, soul, and body. What’s amazing is this: Jesus crossed a sea and faced a storm to rescue one man. And then He left. Why? Because that one transformed man would become a witness. A missionary to the Decapolis. He didn’t have seminary training. He didn’t have all the answers. But he had a story—and he told it. When Jesus returns to that region later, crowds flock to Him. Healings happen. The kingdom breaks in. Why? Because one man told what Jesus had done.

Maybe your story isn’t dramatic like Legion’s, but it’s powerful. Jesus crossed barriers to reach you—and now He sends you across your street, your office, or your city to tell what He’s done. You don’t need a platform. You need a testimony. And the courage to share it.

So, where is Jesus calling you to cross over? Go with Him. The darkness won’t overcome the Light.
