Helping Children in Need Sleep Better
All children deserve a safe, comfortable place to lay their heads. Across the US, too many children go without a bed—or even a pillow—to sleep on. These children end up sleeping on couches, blankets, and even floors. This can affect their happiness and health. That’s where Sleep in Heavenly Peace comes in. It’s a group of volunteers dedicated to building, assembling and delivering top-notch bunk beds to children and families in need.
Every bed they build is handcrafted and constructed by volunteers willing to donate their time to help children in their community, funded by the generous donations of many. The joy that comes from delivering a bed to a child that otherwise doesn’t have one is a life-changing adventure that volunteers and sponsors can experience firsthand.
We want to help!
There are two ways you can participate. You can donate linens for twin-sized mattresses. A collection bin is located in the Welcome Center.
You can volunteer for a build day! We are seeking volunteers to come to the build on Saturday, September 26th from 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. You do not need to have experience in woodworking to participate. There is plenty of things that can be done without prior experience. The build will take place at New Birth Outreach Church (10107 Veterans Parkway).
Volunteers must pre-register with Sleep in Heavenly Peace. Select the option for 9/26/2020 and the GA-Columbus chapter.
